UTILITY OF PLATELET INDICES IN THROMBOCYTOPENIA

نویسندگان

چکیده

Objectives: The objectives of the study were to know role and utility platelet indices (MPV PDW) in differentiating etiology thrombocytopenia. Methods: This was a prospective retrospective 400 cases thrombocytopenia 100 controls conducted over period 17 months from September 2020 February 2022 at tertiary care hospital, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. All patients meeting inclusion criteria included study. Exclusion radiation/chemotherapy, antiplatelet drugs induced thrombocytopenia, etc. EDTA blood samples collected further processed with Sysmex KX-21 automated hematology analyzer. Platelet count, mean volume (MPV), distribution width (PDW) noted data statistically analyzed between groups using t-tests. Results: Out cases, 304 belong Group A (increased destruction platelets) remaining 96 B (decreased production platelets). Among A, causes classified into immune thrombocytopenic purpura others. Various infections resulting majority among other A. comprised megaloblastic anemia as leading cause responsible for MPV PDW values high hyperdestructive compared found significant various groups. Conclusion: along count can be used an adjunct laboratory tool early screening underlying which helps clinicians targeted therapies clinical management.

Pre-treatment and post-treatment changes in platelet indices in patients with immune thrombocytopenia.

OBJECTIVES To investigate if there is a correlation between pre- and post-treatment mean platelet volume (MPV), platelet size deviation width (PDW), and platecrit (PCT) values and to investigate whether we can use them as laboratory parameters to estimate the relapses of immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) patients. METHODS Patients with ITP diagnosed at the Hematology Clinic, School of Medicine, C...

Thrombocytopenia and platelet transfusion

Thrombocytopenia is caused by disorders impairing platelet production, causing platelet destruction or leading to platelet sequestration. In addition, there are both congenital and acquired disorders of platelet function. These latter conditions may lead to the functional equivalent of thrombocytopenia, often despite the presence of a normal platelet count. Platelet transfusion represents an im...

Clinical Significance of Positive Platelet Immunofluorescence Assay in Adult Immune Thrombocytopenia: a Cross Sectional Study

Background: Immune thrombocytopenia is a hematologic disorder characterized by low platelet count and variable bleeding manifestations due to immune-mediated platelet destruction and/or suppression of platelet production. This study was performed to evaluate characteristics and clinical presentations of adult patients with immune thrombocytopenia and to explore the clinical value of platelet an...
